Please submit the items below as part of your application:

  1. A short CV - Please note that this should be no longer than three pages and should only showcase your roles and achievements that demonstrate skills relevant to the position. Academic and publication biographies are not necessary.
  2. Two letters of support - These should be signed by the FEMS Member Societies supporting your application. They should be signed by the FEMS Delegate from the Society or the President of the Society.
  3. A candidate statement – This is your opportunity to explain how your skills and experience can contribute to FEMS and why you are applying for the role.

Please provide a brief example to demonstrate your skills for each of the questions listed below. 

For each question below consider using the STARR method. It helps ensure that your response is structured, focused on key achievements, and provides clear examples of your skills and abilities in action. When answering a question using the STARR methodology, use these steps to provide a structured and comprehensive response to a question:

  • Situation: Begin by setting the context of the situation you encountered. Describe the circumstances and provide relevant details without unnecessary background information.
  • Task: Clearly outline the specific task or goal you were working towards in that situation. What were you responsible for accomplishing or addressing?
  • Action: Describe the actions you took to address the situation or achieve the task. Be specific about what you did, including any skills, knowledge, or resources you utilized.
  • Result: Share the outcome of your actions. What were the results of your efforts? Quantify the outcome if possible.
  • Reflection: Reflect on what you learned from the experience. Discuss any challenges you faced, how you overcame them, and what insights you gained that could be applied in future situations.
