Supporting microbiologists does not stop outside university: we are therefore preparing a new FEMS Industry Placements (FIP); a new type of FEMS grants starting in 2022, allowing up to 20 Early Career Scientists who are members of a FEMS Member Society to spend up to 3 months at a host industry. We need your input - so we wholeheartedly recommend to you our survey. You can read more about FIP and the survey in this newsletter.

Conference Registration and Abstract Submission open!

On Monday, 4 October 2021, the conference registration and abstract submission systems will open! We are looking forward to taking this important step with you and are happy to answer any questions you have.

You can find up-to-date information and links to the registration system on the conference website at www.femsbelgrade2022.org.

Be part of this event, where intercontinental, European, regional, and local scientists from all stages in their career and from all demographical backgrounds can participate in a multifaceted conference.

FIP are a new type of FEMS grants starting in 2022 for which a budget of 100,000 € is reserved, allowing up to 20 Early Career Scientists who are members of a FEMS Member Society to spend up to 3 months at a host industry. The benefits for the host industry is to acquire new talents in microbiology while the costs of the stay are taken over by FEMS similarly to a Research & Training Grant.

In principle, all industries related to microbiology (ie, not only laboratory research) can be considered.

International Microorganism Day on 17 September returned this year with a fantastic 24-hour marathon live stream and an exciting array of educational resources.
