We are happy to share that the World Microbe Forum, an exciting new event including FEMS2021 and ASM Microbe 2021, is being organized by a growing number of collaborators from around the world: besides ASM, FEMS, ASLM, ASV, also ALAM, ALAPAC and MSK have joined.

With more than 500 scientific sessions being scheduled, there are plenty of opportunities available for you to present your science in an online session, including rapid-fire sessions and on-demand symposia.

You don’t want to miss this, so mark the following dates in your calendar:

Scientific Spring Meeting of the Dutch Society of Medical Microbiology

On March 30th and 31st, 2021 the Scientific Spring Meeting of the Dutch Society of Medical Microbiology (NVMM) and the Royal Dutch Society of Microbiology (KNVM) will be held virtually.

This annual meeting is an occasion at which around 700-800 mostly Dutch and Belgian microbiologists meet.

Grants Corner

FEMS Research and Training grantee Fabio Giovannercole

Research and Training Grants assist early career scientists in pursuing research and training at a European host institution in another country than their own country of residence. Fabio (Sapienza University of Rome) visited the Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier, Oeiras, Portugal.

"Thanks to the fruitful collaboration with the host laboratory, I could put my hands on two key omics sciences, I have always been interested to learn and work on, as well as to gain new technical and bioinformatics skills, which will consolidate my profile as a microbiologist and independent researcher. Not only it allowed me to deepen my knowledge on two key omics technologies I have always been interested, but also to gain expertise on statistics and bioinformatics analyse. Thanks to all of this, I will be able to complete and publish a research project I have been involved since my PhD."

Research and Training Grants

Research and Training Grants are meant to assist early career scientists in pursuing research and training at a European host institution in another country than their own country of residence.

Support is limited to a maximum of € 4,000.

Deadline: 1 July 2021

Meeting Organizer Grants

Meeting Organizer Grants (MOG) are now supporting both virtual and in-person meetings. Members of any FEMS Member Society that is preparing to organize (or co-organize) a microbiology event are eligible to apply.

Support of up to € 15,000 per event

Deadline: 1 June 2021 for meetings taking place between 1 December 2021 and 30 November 2022
