International Microorganism Day on 17 September returned this year with a fantastic 24-hour marathon live stream packed with a massive range of engaging speakers, videos, and sessions. While you can find the live stream recording here, the length video files are busy being edited into individual videos and will be ready on the IMD YouTube channel before the autumn is over! This year’s IMD brought not only mountains of video content, but also an exciting array of educational resources to help spread the love for microbes that all of us at FEMS and the IMD team share: • Two amazing new education packs on Yoghurt and Agar, ready for classroom teachers and those who want to experiment with microorganisms at home! • A brilliant gallery of illustrations of historical Women in Microbiology, all thanks to artist Veronica Pisano, with research by IMD blogger Mitra Kashani, author of 10 Women Microbiologists You Don’t Know About But Should • Our Microbes and Us podcast featured a special episode: Six Microbes for International Microorganism Day, where hosts Eleni Koursari and Joseph Shuttleworth run through 6 of their most amazing favourite microbes in anticipation of IMD2021 We wish to thank everyone involved in IMD2021, the speakers and hosts, the IMD team, the Portuguese Society for Microbiology, and all FEMS staff who helped make this year so special. Enjoy the content packs, and see you next year for IMD2022! |
