In 2022, about 1200 reviewers helped the FEMS journals maintain the high scientific and rigorous standard they are known for.

Reviewers are the unsung heroes of every reputable scholarly journal. With their subject expertise and voluntary work, they provide an invaluable contribution for the advancement of science.

Useful information for reviewers, including how to get recognition through Publons (now Web of Science Reviewer Recognition) are available on the FEMS Website.

Particularly interesting for Early Career Scientists: Reviewers for FEMS journals can download a certificate for their work done to help advance microbiology:

1. Log in or create a FEMS account (you will need to use the same email you used on ScholarOne to find your certificate)

2. On the dashboard, click on ‘My certificates’

3. Your certificate should appear. There will be different ones if you reviewed for more than one FEMS journals

For any questions or if you don’t find your certificate, feel free to reach out per email with the heading “Reviewer Certificate” to fems@fems-microbiology.org.

All journals in the FEMS Portfolio welcome spontaneous submissions except for FEMS Microbiology Reviews (invited contributions, pre-submission enquiries possible).

Every year we run several volunteer projects aiming to communicate microbiology to a wider audience. Recently, we welcomed 14 volunteers to our #MicrobiologyInArt blog section team but also 2 volunteers to our Journal Social Media Editor team.

New volunteer calls will be advertised on our newsletter, website and social media but we are always open for contributors to our #FEMSmicroBlog!
